Paqpaq is the brainchild of Tonio Darmanin who, way back in 2002, decided to turn his passion for cars, bikes and anything that can be driven fast into an experience he could share with thousands of like-minded enthusiasts in Malta and beyond.
From the very first programmes, broadcast on Malta's national station TVM, it was clear that this was to become a mainstay on local media. The ever increasing stock of top notch vehicles belonging to Maltese collectors, the international contacts established over the years and the steady flow of new cars and bikes presented by manufacturers ensure that year after year, Paqpaq remains relevant and brimming with interesting content.
Today the Paqpaq brand has established itself as the most important media communication tool in the automotive sector. Apart from the programme that is broadcast consistently between October and July each season, we are also extremely active in print and electronic media. Paqpaq Motoring and Leisure is a monthly publication that has been produced for over 5 years and today is distributed with Malta's widest circulation newspaper, The Sunday Times. We are also extremely active on the web where, apart from this website we manage the Paqpaq You Tube Channel and the Paqpaq page on Facebook.
It has always been our principal that one should give back to society, and in 2005 Paqpaqli ghall-Istrina was created. The basic principal was that, drawing on the popularity of the programme, an event would be created whereby owners and enthusiasts come together to satisfy their passion but at the same time collect funds for charity. In 2008, by request of the President of Malta, H.E. Dr George Abela, Paqpaqli ghall-Istrina became one of the official annual events in the calendar of fundraising activities for the Community Chest Fund and has become the most important national motoring event of the year.
The event has put Malta on the international map, attracting personalities like Horacio Pagani, Lewis Hamilton and Chris Pfeiffer, vehicles like the Bugatti Veyron, the Lamborghini Reventon, the latest Ferrari modules and even the Lexus LFA and collecting hundreds of thousands of Euros for charity in the process.
As from 2013, Paqpaq has spread its presence on national TV from one to three content specific programmes aimed at distinct segments in the market. Paqpaq Lifestyle focusses on classic and exotic cars, covers international motor shows and motoring events and covers automotive topics in general. As it's name implies, Paqpaq Motorsport covers the local Motorsport scene, follows Maltese drivers participating in events abroad and generally drives to get local Motorsport the recognition it deserves. Paqpaq On Test features 2 five minute test drives each week, aimed at the general public needing professional, independent information on the latests cars and bikes arriving in Malta.
